Elegant Lavender

It’s that time of year when you cannot help but notice the dazzling bluey purple spikes of the English lavender bushes, either snuggled in amongst pots in garden centres, in front and back gardens, or in some of the wonderful lavender fields dotted around the UK.

We are fortunate enough to live close to some of the most beautiful UK lavender fields, nestled in the South Downs and Kent. It is always such a treat to look out for these vibrant rolling carpets in full bloom, as we travel into London by train – they simply take your breath away with the stunning deep purple – a colour that is closely linked to royalty and elegance.

Inspired by these wonderful flowers of violets, lively azures or even smudgy indigos, Sophia has been busy hand embroidering lavender bags of all shapes and sizes in her unique style. She has also been transforming some of our late Mum’s silk saris into unusual and eye-catching soft bags of lavender. All this in readiness for the craft show at the South East England Showground, Ardingly on the 17th & 18th June. It cannot be under emphasised that Sophia’s sewing room now is a riot of colour and soothing scents!

Whilst many of us like to have these bags to place in our linen or underwear drawers as the fragrance scent of lavender is associated with serenity and calmness, you could try putting one of these bags under your pillow to help with a good night’s sleep.

So why not come and visit our stall at Ardingly in Sussex on either the 17th or 18th June to see what Sophia has been up to. These unusual lavender bags make for lovely gifts as well of course to add to your own drawer or to keep around the house.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
